Online Casting Database Now Simpler and Faster for Both Actors and Entertainment Industry
Los Angeles (December 18, 2009) — Screen Actors Guild announced today new enhancements to its iActor online casting database (iactor.org). The new features enable actors to create profiles that reflect their talents more accurately than ever. The upgrades also make talent searches more focused and easier, a significant benefit for casting agents, producers, new media developers and others needing to cast their projects.
Los Angeles (December 18, 2009) – SAG National Executive Director David White was honored today with the Labor and Personal Representation Award by the Association of Media and Entertainment Counsel.
He was formally recognized with the honor at AMEC’s annual Counsel of the Year luncheon. The ceremony took place at the House of Blues in West Hollywood.

Washington, D.C. (December 1, 2009) - Screen Actors Guild announced today that Washington-Baltimore Branch member Sheldon Smith will receive the 2nd Annual Howard Keel Award for his tireless contributions to the Guild. Smith joined SAG in Detroit in 1968 and will receive his honor at the Regional Branch Division's annual board meeting this spring.

Los Angeles (November 9, 2009) - The AFL-CIO elected Screen Actors Guild National President Ken Howard to its Executive Council today during its scheduled meeting in Washington D.C. Howard, whose Executive Council term runs until the summer of 2013, fills a seat vacated by former Guild National President Alan Rosenberg, who had served on the Federation’s Council for three years before stepping down. Howard will concentrate on issues that affect the Guild, the Associated Actors and Artistes of America, professional employees and the entertainment and media industries.

Study Shows Television Audiences Would Grow with More English-Language Programming Dubbed by Spanish-Speaking Actors
Los Angeles (October 28, 2009) - More Hispanics would watch English-language programming dubbed into Spanish if more were available and easier to find, according to the 2009 Hispanic Consumer Survey on SAP commissioned by Screen Actors Guild, which reveals the viewing habits of Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States and the use of Secondary Audio Programming (SAP).

Los Angeles (October 18, 2009) -- Screen Actors Guild announced today that its National Board of Directors appointed David P. White as National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator. White has been serving as the Guild's Interim National Executive Director since January of this year.
The board approved a two-year contract, by a vote of 70.91% to 29.09% at its national board meeting in Los Angeles this weekend.
Los Angeles (October 15, 2009)-Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced today that the AFTRA Administrative Committee and Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors have approved an 18-month extension to the SAG Industrial and Educational Contract and AFTRA Code of Fair Practice for Non Broadcast/Industrial/Educational Recorded Material. The contracts, which were set to expire on Oct. 29, 2009, will now be effective Nov. 1, 2009, to April 30, 2011.
