Who looks after the well-being of animals that appear in films and TV shows?

The Producer-Screen Actors Guild Codified Basic Agreement of 1998 describes the Producers' position and responsibility for the well being of animals on
sets. One provision is that the Producer must notify the American Humane Association prior to the commencement of any work that involves animals. This section also provides representatives of the American Humane Association with access to sets while animals are being used.
