SAG’s New York Division and AFTRA’s New York Local will hold open Joint Wages & Working Conditions Meetings in preparation for the SAG TV/Theatrical and AFTRA Exhibit A Contract Negotiations. On Tuesday, July 6 there will be a presentation on an Industry Overview and Outlook, and on Wednesday, July 7 there will be a presentation on the Landscape of Television. SAG and AFTRA members are invited to attend a special contract caucus meeting to review the Producer-Screen Actors Guild’s Policy on Non-Discrimination and Diversity in the Codified Basic Agreement and Television Agreement and AFTRA’s Policy of Non-Discrimination/Affirmative Action in Exhibit A of AFTRA Network Television Code. The non-discrimination policies are mostly identical for both unions.

The SAG Foundation Short Film Showcase

The SAG Foundation in New York is now accepting submissions of short films for its next showcase that will be presented in September.

1.All films must be produced under a SAG contract

2.Films must not be more than 15 minutes in length

3.Priority is given to films created by SAG members

4.There is no entry fee nor is there a charge to attend

5.The director, producer(s) or someone representing the film MUST be present at the event for the post-screening Q&A.

6.Interested filmmakers should send an email including the title of the film, synopsis and running time to: shortsny@sagfoundation.org

Films selected will be announced by the first week of that month.

This is not a competition, so filmmakers can screen their films here without violating rules set by certain film festivals.

We are open to screening all types of films, as long as they are not patently offensive in regards to subject matter or visual interpretation.

NY CASTING ACCESS PROJECT (NYCAP)

Registration for the next NYCAP ORIENTATION starts on Monday, September 20, 2010 on the SAG Foundation’s website.

Completion of this mandatory process, which is conducted online and by mail, makes you eligible to participate in the free audition and cold reading workshops which are offered on a monthly basis. The sessions are conducted by well-known casting directors.
