Fill out a Disability in 2010 Survey for the 20th Anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act, plus view celebrations across the country, including the inaugural SAG DARE TO BE DIVERSE Screening.

On July 26, 1990, President George H. Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure the civil rights of people with disabilities. This legislation established a clear and comprehensive national mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities.

The ADA has expanded opportunities for Americans with disabilities by reducing barriers and changing perceptions, increasing full participation in community life. However, the full promise of the ADA will only be reached if we all remain committed to fully implement the ADA.

On this 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we ask that you take a few minutes to respond to a SAG Survey about Disability in 2010 by visiting: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/sagdisabilityin2010

Throughout the month of July, Screen Actors Guild celebrated the accomplishments of the past 20 years and made new strides towards greater inclusion of performers with disabilities.

The tri-union Inclusion in the Arts & Media of People with Disabilities (I AM PWD) campaign is a global outreach and human rights initiative led by people with disabilities to give a voice in entertainment and media to performers and journalists with disabilities who often go unseen and unheard. The resolution achieved the support of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) as the first international co-sponsor of the campaign, and was approved by the full FIA Executive Meeting at its June 26-27 session in Copenhagen, Denmark.
