The Florida Branch and South Region Office of Screen Actors Guild are headquartered in Miami, Florida. Central Florida is overseen by an executive based in the Orlando area.
The Florida Branch has approximately 3,500 members and is the largest branch of Screen Actors Guild in the nation. The South Region Office provides administrative services to performers and production personnel in 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, as well as Puerto Rico.
Two Florida Branch Members serve on the National Board of Directors and one on the National Executive Committee. The Florida Branch is governed by a Council of up to 13 members who serve three-year terms. Florida Branch officers are President, Vice President and Recording Secretary who serve two-year terms.
The first President of the Florida Branch, at its inception in 1962, was the late Mel Pape. Other past Presidents include: the late Bruce McLaughlin, as well as Mal Jones, Rey Baumel, Wm. Richard Callinan, George DeVries, Doug William Johnson, Dan Fitzgerald, and Clarence Thomas.
The South Region’s professional staff of 14 is headed by Leslie L. Krensky, South Region Director and Florida Executive Director.
